OUR GERBILS
STARBUCK and CAPPUCCINO

Starbuck and Cappuccino, Sept.18, 2010
Starbuck and Cappuccino
were born on July 29, 2010.
Starbuck is a Burmese and Cappuccino is a pied Burmese. They have three other
siblings.
Their father, Rocco, a pied Burmese, and mother, HiFi, a light colorpoint
agouti, are now owned and were bred by
AGS breeder,
Rebecca Azer (Gerbil Parade), in Dracut, Ma.
(where our boys were born).
Rebecca sent us photos of them from when they were first born, and we monitored
their growth.
We finally took possession of them on Oct.16, 2010, when they were
delivered to us in NYC
by our wonderful friend, Holly Robinson Cookson.

PETE and GUTHRIE

Pete and Guthrie, one year old! 2008
Pete Hollis Dracut Block and Guthrie Springfield Dracut Block ( named after Pete
Seeger and Woody Guthrie) were born March 3, 2007. They also have a
sister, who is now living with a wonderful family. They are Siamese (Color
point).
Their parents are Brownie and Leo.
Brownie, their mother, is a beautiful Burmese from Donna
Anastasi’s ABC Gerbils, Hollis NH. Brownie was, as a pup, the gerbil in the
July page of Ellen Bellini’s 2006 Gerbil Calendar. She was born Aug.3, 2005.
By coincidence, Brownie was the gerbil Donna handed me for a group photo of me,
Laura Pimas and Jimina Pimas (all of us holding gerbils), taken by Ellen Bellini
at the 2006 AGS NE Show, in Nashua, NH.
Brownie won BIS in the first EVER National Gerbil Society
Virtual Show (UK, 2006), entered by Donna Anastasi.
Leo, their Siamese father, is from Tana Lyman’s Little
Rascals, Springfield, MO.
Brownie and Leo are now owned and were bred by Rebecca Azer, Dracut, Ma. (where our boys were born). Rebecca sent us photos of them from when they were first born, and we monitored their growth. We finally took possession of them at the AGS NE Show in Bedford, Ma. on May 19, 2007 after the AGS Show.
Pete won a Third Place Ribbon in the
non-spot Pup Class at the AGS NE 2007 Show. We are very proud of him.
Of course, Guthrie is also a “winner” to us!

Guthrie, age four months in these photos, won 3rd place
in the Colorpoint Class,
in the American Gerbil Society, Sept. 2007 Virtual Show.
We are very proud of him!
The judges wrote,
"This
cute little guy has a nice head, nice tail and a pretty color,
although it appears a bit washed out by the flash.
He could use a bit more bulk, so keep the sunflower seeds coming!
Adorable, sweet expression and what a set of whiskers!"
Our beloved Pete died June 21, 2010. His brother, our
beloved Guthrie, died
August. 29, 2009. Both died peacefully in their sleep. We're grateful for that.
RIP sweet boys. We miss you so much. For our memorials to them, go to our
"In Loving Memory" page.
PUTNAM HERACLES & THURSTON HERMES
Putnam and Thurston were born ca. May 9, 2004 in Maine. They are named after
a wonderful, alas,
no longer existent, restaurant in
Worcester, Mass., to which Stuart and I went when were first dating. We
bought them at the 2004 NE American
Gerbil Society Show (June 26) in Rutland, Vermont . There were
so many beautiful gerbils for sale at
the Show! I did NOT intend to get any gerbils, though. I told Stuart
that, and we agreed.
But seeing these two adorable baby boys, I just melted. They were playing
together in a cage full of other
gerbils. They looked so sweet, and were so attached to each other (it
reminded me of the closeness of
Bacchus and Dionysius). I watched them for a while. They were
inseparable. I just knew I wanted
them as part of our "family"! Stuart, who, after 30 years, "knows me",
just smiled and laughed, when I
handed him the small cage with these two magnificent gerbies! He
commented how beautiful they were! We
all made the 6 hour train ride and then cab ride home to
Riverdale!
Putnam and Thurston are from Mountain Ash Gerbils (owned by Janet
Morrow) of
Presque Isle, Maine. They
are Black mottled (aa C* E* GG P* Sp). Their father is Mountain
Ash's Zeus (Black) and their mother
is Mountain Ash's Hera (Black Mottled).
Our sweet Putnam died on March 9, 2007. For our memorial to him, go to our
"In Loving Memory" page.
Our darling Thurston died on March 23, 2007. His memorial is also on our "In
Loving Memory" page.

PHOEBE
Our beloved Phoebe died from genetic kidney failure, at about 1:34 AM on
January 15, 2004.
Phoebe was truly amazingl: the soul of an artist in the body of a gerbil. We
never had another like her and never will. Her
sons, Bacchus and Dionysius, inherited her good looks, but not her artistic
talent.
To see her magnificent cardboard tunnel sculptures, go
to her website,

For our memorial to her, go to the "In Loving Memory" page in this website.

AND DIONYSUS
Bacchus and Dionysius were born Sept. 9, 2002. They are Spotted Agoutis. Phoebe
is their mother.
Their
father, Pan, is owned by Karen Biehl, of the American Gerbil Society.
Thanks to her, these two sweeties are now part of our family!
They got along extremely well, living together, loving each other and
caring for each other until Dionysius died.
Dionysius died on Dec.2, 2005.. Bacchus
died on Jan. 12, 2006. RIP sweet boys.
